HomeMy WebLinkAbout128r 411 • RESOLUTION NO. 128 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS, DECLARING THE RESULT OF ITS CANVASS OF THE PRECINCT ELECTION RETURNS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON APRIL 12, 1960. WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 117, passed and adopted on the 3rd day of February, 1960, the City Council called and order- ed a General Municipal Election pursuant to Section 36503 of the Government Code of the State of California for the purpose of electing three councilmen; and WHEREAS, notice of said General Municipal Election was duly published as required by law and by said resolution; and WHEREAS, it appears that said General Municipal Elect- ion was duly held in accordance with the law and said call on the 12t day of April, 1960, and that the polls for said election were kept open during the time required by law, and that said election was held and conducted, and the votes thereat received and canvass- ed, and the returns thereof ascertained, determined and declared, all as provided by the laws of the State of California; and WHEREAS, the Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills has duly convened at its usual meeting place on the 191 day of April, 1960, being the first Tuesday after the election, and has completed a canvass of the returns of such election; and WHEREAS, said canvass was duly completed and the results thereof are as hereinafter set forth; and WHEREAS, the following persons were voted upon for the office of councilman:_ ALBERT T. HENLEY THOMAS F. SHERLOCK WM. ROSS AIKEN GORDON E. BOWLER • ROBERT S. DOAK DR. EDWARD LISTON SIDNEY W. TREAT, and ALFRED E. NEWMAN; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills :- 1. That the City Council finds and hereby ratifies and declares the results of the General Municipal Election held on April 12, 1960, to be as follows : a) That said General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the Town of Los Altos Hills, County of Santa Clara, State of California, on Tuesday, April 12, 1960, in the time, form and manner required by law. 111 b) That there were two voting precincts :- 1. Consolidated Precinct No. 1, consisting of county precincts 2381, 2382, 2383 and 2387. 2. Consolidated Precinct No. 2, consisting of county precincts 2384, 2385, 2386 and 2388. c) That a canvass of the votes cast in said city for councilmen was duly held in accordance with the order of the City Council and in accordance with law. d) That there were two consolidated precincts, number- ed "1" and "2", and the following number of votes was cast in each precinct for the candidates.:. Henley 254 - 1 Sherlock - 280 Aiken 281 Bowler 12 Doak 70 Liston 84 Treat 1 Newman 1 e) That 28 duly registered voters who expected to be absent from their election precinct on the day of the elect- ion secured ballots from the City Clerk, and that the City Clerk has certified to this Council that 28 of the said absentee ballots issued by him have been cast in the time required by law. f) That all absent voter ballots have been duly received and canvassed in the time, form and. manner as required by law, and the result of the absentee vote for the candidates are as follows, without regard to precincts : VOTES FOR COUNCILMEN BALLOTS SPOILED AND NOT COUNTED HENLEY -. 17 None SHERLOCK 22 AIKEN 15 BOWLER 2 DOAK 8 LISTON 13 TREAT 0 NEWMAN . 0 -2- 411 Absentee applications filed: 28 Ballots returned (total vote cast) : 28 Votes rejected (ineligible) : 0 Spoiled ballots : 0 Ballots .counted (regular) : 710 Absentee ballots for the Council: 28 2. That the above canvass shows: a) That the total number of ballots cast in the City is 738 . b) That the total number of votes for each person, including absentees, is: Henley 550 Sherlock 561 _ Aiken 552 Bowler 39 Doak 178 Liston 205 Treat 1 Newman 1 - - IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that this Council does declare the following named three persons as having the highest number of votes of each office, and as indicated by the number of votes after their names are duly elected Councilmen of the Town of Los Altos Hills : Thomas F. Sherlock Albert T. Henley Win. Ross Aiken and that those elected were each elected for a term of four (4) years. IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to enter this resolution in full in the minutes of this Council as the statement of the result of said General Municipal Election, and that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed to perform any and all incidental duties herewith as required by law. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills at a meeting of said Council regularly held on the19E, day of April, 1960, by the following vote :: AYES: Councilmen Clayton, Sherlock, Henley, Mayor Fowle NOES: None _- ABSENT: Councilman Bledsoe �� Mayor Ci :may Clerk- __
