RESOLUTION NO. 82
A RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE REAPPORTIONMENT
OF SUPERVISORIAL REPRESENTATION AND EXPRESS-
ING THE COUNCIL'S DESIRE FOR SUCH REAPPOR-
TI ONMENT.
WHEREAS, the 1958 Grand Jury has made a study of
the supervisorial districts in this County and has deter-
mined that the present districts do not provide a fair re-
presentation of the people of this County on the Board of
Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, the Grand Jury has recommended that a
change be made in said supervisorial districts to more e-
quitably apportion the representation on the Board by pop-
ulation within the various areas of the County; and
WHEREAS, This Council has considered the recom-
mendation of the Grand Jury, and has considered other in-
formation pertaining to the inequitable division of said
supervisorial districts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Coun-
cil of the Town of Los Altos Hills;
THAT this Council does hereby express its dis-
satifaction with the present supervisorial districts of the
County of Santa Clara, and its feeling that there should be
a re-districting of the area of this County so as to provide
a more equitable representation on the Board of Supervisors
of the people of the more populous areas of the County;
That this Council does, by this Resolution, urge
and request the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce to work with
the Chambers of Commerce in adjoining cities in making stud-
ies and recommendations as to the proper realignment of said
supervisorial districts, and in bringing about a more equit-
able representation of the people;
THAT the City Clerk of said City be and he hereby
is directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Los
Altos Chamber of Commerce urging its support.

The foregoing resolution was regularly intro-
duced and adopted at an Adjourned Regular Meeting of the
City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills, held on the
6th day of April, 1959, by the following Roll Call Vote:
AYES: Councilmen Bledsoe, Clayton, Henley,
Sherlock, Mayor Fowle
