RESOLUTION NO. 65
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS 'ALTOS HILLS
RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Los Altos
Hills go on record as opposing any routing of the Junipe,ro 'Serra
Freeway within its borders,
Any routing thru the Town will cause disruption, hard-
ship and expense to its citizens. •
That the more Westerly the route the greater the dis-
ruption, hardship, and expense,
That the Council state very emphatically to the High-
way Commission that adoption of any more Westerly route is the
result of, Political Expediency at the expense of sound engineer-
ing value.
That it is the moral responsibility of the Highway Com-
mission to consider local traffic problems, present and future, as
they are increased or alleviated by the placement of the Freeway.
Before considering any of the more Westerly routes, the
Commission is morally obligated to obtain positive and binding proof
that an Expressway will be built along the Southern Pacific right
of way to handle local traffic, adequately.
It is the responsibility of the Highway Commission to in-
quire into and pass judgement on the methods of financing of such
an Expressway and to make sure that the financial burden will be .
spread equitably among the users of the Expressway.
That the Town of Los Altos Hills will demand and expect
substantial concessions from the Department of Highways in the way
of financial assistance, improvement of access roads, landscaping,
etc. , if against our wishes, any portion of the Freeway passes thru
our Town.
This Resolution was duly introduced and adopted atreg-
ular adjourned meeting of the City Council of the Town of Los Altos
Hills on the 29% day of April , 1958, by the following vote:
