HomeMy WebLinkAbout77-16 RESOLUTION 77-16 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS REPEALING THE PREVIOUSLY ADOPTED WILDLAND-URBAN INTERFACE FIRE AREA MAP WHEREAS, in conformance with State Government Code Sections 51175 through 51189, the Town of Los Altos Hills ("Town") adopted regulations governing lands within a Wildland-Urban Interface fire area; and WHEREAS, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) has not identified or recommended that any area within the Town be designated as a "very high fire hazard severity zone" and therefore none of the residences or areas of the Town are statutorily required to be designated by the Town as within a fire hazard severity zone; and WHEREAS, in 2011, the Town of Los Altos Hills adopted the current Wildland-Urban Interface Fire Area map (WUI map) dated July 1, 2008; and WHEREAS, because of the Town's unique climatic, topographic and geologic conditions, along with existing regulations which require Class A fire resistant roofs and vegetation management throughout the entire Town, the City Council desired to amend the adopted WUI map; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission considered the amendments to the WUI map, all public comments received on the draft maps, and recommended that the City Council adopt an amended draft of the 2016 WUI map; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of law, a public hearing on the WUI map amendments has been held; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills finds that this project is exempt from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA"), pursuant to Section 15061(b)(3) of the CEQA Guidelines, because it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that an amended WUI map will have a significant effect on the environment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills hereby repeals the previously adopted Wildland Urban Interface Fire Area Map dated July 1, 2008 and removes all properties within the Town Limits from the Wildland-Urban Interface Fire Area, per Option 1 attached as Exhibit A.
