„_1 <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br />MINUTES OF A CONTINUED SPECIAL MEETING <br />May 23, 1966 <br />The Continued Special Meeting of the City Council of the Town of <br />Los Altos Hills was called to order Monday, May 23, 1966 by Mayor <br />Albert T. Henley, at 7:40 I.. M. at the Town Hall, 263']9 Fremont <br />Road, Los Altos dills, California. <br />ROL1. CALL: PRESENT: Councilman Davey, Bowler, Fowls, <br />Mayor 'ienley <br />ABSENT: Councilman Aiken <br />Before proceeding with the Special Meeting, the Mayor announced <br />receipt of a gift from Gertrude Sherlock of a United States flag <br />given her in memoriam of her late husband, Thomas Sherlock, which <br />will replace the Town's flag which was apparently stolen. The <br />flag was acknowledged with extreme appreciation and thanks to <br />Mrs. Sherlock. <br />CONTINUED DISCUSSION OF <br />Trucking Violations on Magdalena Road. <br />At the Special Meeting of the City Council called to order on <br />Monday, Play 23, 1966 at 8:30 I'i., Councilman Fowls was re- <br />quested to submit a report on the possibility of alternate <br />routes and Deputy City Clerk Smith requested to report on the <br />cost of recent improvements to Magdalena Road and the estimate <br />of repairs, as well as the reconstruction of same. <br />Councilman Fowls stated his oral report was not a recommendation, <br />but a determination of facts. Routes were observed with the <br />help of Mr. George H. Neary, Jr., 24840 Prospect Road, Los altos, <br />and the Deputy City Clerk. Summarily, Councilman Fowle's report <br />discounted rerouting over the Freeway and Expressway as <br />impassable and Summerhill Road as not feasible, and offered the <br />following possible alternate routes: <br />1) Via E1 Monte and Fremont Road, or <br />2) Via presently used route of Magdalena, or <br />3) Possibility of a combination circular route froom. quarry <br />via El Monte -Fremont and return empty trucks via <br />Magdalena Road. <br />Councilman Fowle reported he had conferred with the County, who <br />is responsible for the granting of contracts for the paving of <br />the General Expressway System. The County indicated their <br />willingness to cooperate, however, suggested that a voluntary <br />�) arrangement between the three major contractors involved would <br />be a better solution, if the request appealed to their sense <br />
