v 4 J <br />ORDINANCE NO. 44 <br />A COMPREHENSIVE ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br />ESTABLISHING, REGULATING AND RESTRICTING THE U3F OF LAND AND THE USE, <br />LOCATION AND HEIGHT AND BULK OF BUILDINGS, AND AREA AND DIMENSIONS <br />OF BUILDING SITES: PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE ORDINANCE: <br />ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR APPEALS AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR <br />VIOLATIONS AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1. <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF IAS ALTOS HILLS DOES ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. SHORT TITLE <br />1:10 Title. This Ordinance shall be known and may be cited <br />as the "Zoning Ur nance of the Town of Los Altos Hills". <br />1:20 pipose, This Zoning Ordinance is adopted to protect <br />and guide the growth and expansion of the Town of Los Altos Hills in <br />an orderly manner true to the rural residential character of the com- <br />munity; to provide for space deemed necessary to advance the welfare <br />of the public in assuring adeuate light, pure air, safety from con- <br />flagration and disaster; to promote the smooth flow of traffic, to <br />provide adequate residential off-street parking facilities, and to <br />solve other conditions arising from concentration of the population. <br />1:30 In er retation. In their interpretation and applica- <br />tion, the provisions of this Ordinance shall be held to be the <br />minimum requirements adopted for the promotion of the public health, <br />safety and welfare. <br />1:40 Scope. It is not intended by this Ordinance to <br />repeal, abrogate, annul or in any way impair or interfere with exist- <br />ing provisions of other laws or ordinances, except those specifically <br />repealed by this Ordinance, or with private restrictions placed upon <br />property by covenant, deed or other private agreement, or with re- <br />strictive convenants running with the land to which the City is a <br />party. Where this Ordinance imposes a greater restriction upon <br />land, buildingsor structures than is imposed or required by such <br />existifhg provisions of law, ordinance, conversant, contract or deed, <br />the provisions of this Ordinance shall control. <br />SECTION II. DEFINITIONS <br />2:10 For the purposes of this Ordinance, the following <br />terms, phrases, words, and their derivations shall have the meaning <br />given herein. When not inconsistent with the context, words used in <br />the present tense include the future, words in the plural number <br />include the singular number, and words in the singular number include <br />the plural number. The word "shall" is always mandatory and not <br />merely directory. <br />(A) "Acceseo Use or Accessor Structure". A subordinate <br />use or subordinate strut ure cus omari y incident <br />n— and located on <br />the same lot with the dwelling, including but not limited to private <br />swimming pools, barns and stables. <br />(B) "Agriculture". Includes animal husbandry, livestock <br />farming, flower growing, crop and tree farming and viticulture. <br />
