• • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 867 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS URGING PASSAGE OF <br /> AB378 (CHAPPIE), PUBLIC PATHS AND TRAILS GRANT PROGRAM <br /> WHEREAS, the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills is one of the few <br /> suburban communities in the State of California that encourages and provides, <br /> through Ordinance, for the keeping of horses and for their utilization on <br /> existing Town trails; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills provides, through <br /> subdivision easements, hiking paths and trailway systems for the enjoyment of <br /> persons residing within and without the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills offers accessibility for <br /> bicyclists to traverse its rural and scenic roadways without restriction; and <br /> WHEREAS, the increasing incidents of right-of-way conflict between <br /> motorists and bicyclists, equestrians and pedestrians on narrow, confined, and <br /> often precipitous roadways threatens the safety and welfare of all upon those <br /> roadways; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills, wishing to be non- <br /> exclusionary with respect to other than motor vehicle traffic, is, nevertheless, <br /> without adequate funds to furnish, to its satisfaction, extensive and safe <br /> passage lanes for conflicting roadway uses: <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of the <br /> Town of Los Altos Hills hereby urges the State Legislature to the early adoption <br /> of AB378 providing for grant funds for the purposes of acquisition and <br /> construction of bicycle, equestrian, and hiking paths and trails. <br /> * * * * * <br />
