r or III RESOLUTION NO. 660 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS URGING IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION OF STANDARDS OF MERCURY CONTAMINATION. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills that : WHEREAS, the Food and Drug Administration of the United States has adopted a guideline of .5 part per million of mercury for finding contamination of fish intended for human consumption, which finding is based on data which may be inadequate thereto; and WHEREAS, said guideline is , for lack of any other, the basis of decisions and rulings by other bodies including the Departments of Public Health and of Fish and Game of the State of California; and WHEREAS , the Town of Los Altos Hills is a public agency concerned generally with the safety of its citizens , and is particularly concerned that fish intended for human consumption may be eaten with absolute safety; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills that it shall be and it is hereby most strongly urged upon the Food and Drug Administration of the United States that an early and thorough review and investigation be undertaken of the matter of safe mercury levels in the flesh of fish intended for human consumption to the end that any guideline adopted upon such basis shall have the entire confidence of those affected thereby and shall not be subject to a charge that investigation has been inadequate and the contamination level adopted unrealistic ; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and he is hereby directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to each United States Senator and Member of Congress , to each State Senator and Assemblyman, to the United States Food and Drug Administration, to the Departments ROBIN D.
