r or III <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 660 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br /> URGING IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION OF STANDARDS OF MERCURY CONTAMINATION. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos <br /> Hills that : <br /> WHEREAS, the Food and Drug Administration of the United States <br /> has adopted a guideline of .5 part per million of mercury for <br /> finding contamination of fish intended for human consumption, <br /> which finding is based on data which may be inadequate thereto; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, said guideline is , for lack of any other, the basis <br /> of decisions and rulings by other bodies including the Departments <br /> of Public Health and of Fish and Game of the State of California; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS , the Town of Los Altos Hills is a public agency <br /> concerned generally with the safety of its citizens , and is <br /> particularly concerned that fish intended for human consumption <br /> may be eaten with absolute safety; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town <br /> of Los Altos Hills that it shall be and it is hereby most strongly <br /> urged upon the Food and Drug Administration of the United States <br /> that an early and thorough review and investigation be undertaken <br /> of the matter of safe mercury levels in the flesh of fish intended <br /> for human consumption to the end that any guideline adopted upon <br /> such basis shall have the entire confidence of those affected thereby <br /> and shall not be subject to a charge that investigation has been <br /> inadequate and the contamination level adopted unrealistic ; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and he is hereby <br /> directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to each United States <br /> Senator and Member of Congress , to each State Senator and Assemblyman, <br /> to the United States Food and Drug Administration, to the Departments <br /> ROBIN D.
