111 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 653 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS <br /> HILLS SUPPORTING AN ELECTION ON FORMATION OF A COUNTYWIDE TRANSIT <br /> DISTRICT IN JUNE 1972 . <br /> RESOLVED, by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills , <br /> California, that <br /> WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors requested <br /> of the Transportation Policy Committee a recommendation on when <br /> to hold a transit district formation election; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Transportation Policy Committee has requested <br /> formal written expressions from each of the cities in Santa Clara <br /> County so that the Transportation Policy recommendations to the <br /> Board of Supervisors can be as solidly based and comprehensive <br /> as possible; and <br /> WHEREAS, transportation, and particularly the provision of <br /> suitable comprehensive mass transit facilities , remains one of the <br /> most important issues for the future of Santa Clara County; and <br /> WHEREAS, Senate Bill 325 (Chapter 1400; 1971 Statutes) enacts <br /> the Mills-Alquist-Deddeh Act and requires the establishment of a <br /> local transportation fund utilizing monies which will be generated <br /> from within Santa Clara County; and <br /> GdHtREAS, Senate Bill 325 (Chapter 1400 ; 1971 Statutes) permits <br /> the formation of an operating transit district without the <br /> necessity for seeking additional and separate revenue sources as <br /> was the case in prior district formation elections ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the provision of fragmented transit services causes <br /> interface and coordination problems which will detrimentally affect <br /> transit ridership potential; and <br /> WHEREAS, the provision of transit facilities should be on a <br /> system basis and on a comprehensive basis for the benefit of all <br /> jurisdictions and all citizens of Santa Clara County; and <br /> ROBIN D.
