RES OLUTI ON NO. 75 <br /> WHEREAS, the Federal-Aid Highway Act has apportion- <br /> ed certain Federal sums to the State of California on a long- <br /> range program and will continue such apportionment for each <br /> fiscal year until 1972 for the purpose of eliminating in the <br /> State existing deficiencies in Interstate, Primary and Second- <br /> ary Highways and extensions of these systems within Urban <br /> areas; and <br /> WHEREAS, the apportionment received each fiscal year <br /> by the State of California is based (a) 45 per centum for pro- <br /> jects on the Federal-aid primary highway system; (b) 30 per <br /> centum for projects on the Federal-aid secondary highway system; f. <br /> (c) 25 per centum for projects on extensions of these systems <br /> within Urban areas; and <br /> WHEREAS, the apportionment so made will, over the <br /> next fourteen years, improve the standards of all important <br /> highways necessary to the motoring public who use said primary <br /> and secondary systems and extensions of these systems within <br /> the Urban areas ; and <br /> WHEREAS, by an Act of the State Legislature of Cali- <br /> fornia referred to as Chapter 5 "Federal Aid for Secondary <br /> Highways" being Sections 2200 to 2214 inclusive, of the Streets <br /> and Highways Code, all Federal funds apportioned to the State <br /> of California for Secondary systems have been allocated to the <br /> counties for county highways throughout the state in the follow- <br /> ing amounts : not less than eighty-seven and one-half percent <br /> (870) of the money apportioned to California for projects in <br /> the Federal-aid secondary system except that during the fiscal <br /> years of 1957-58 and 1958-59, at least ninety-eight and one-half <br /> percent (980) of such moneys shall be expended for the improve- <br /> ment of county highways; and <br /> WHEREAS, Section 2210. 5 of said Streets and Highways <br /> Code further provides that the State shall contribute toward <br /> the improvement of county highways , in addition to the amount <br /> provided for in the preceding paragraph, money not to exceed <br /> $100,000 in any one year except that during the fis'al years <br /> 1957-58 and 1958-59 no county shall receive in excess of <br /> $200,000 in any one year; and <br />
