RESOLUTION NO. 64 <br /> Vacation and Leave Policy for City Employees <br /> WHEREAS, in order to maintain high morale in the public <br /> service, and encourage high standards of performance and efficiency, <br /> be it therefore <br /> RESOLVED that all employees in the municipal service shall <br /> be eligible for annual vacation leave with pay, at the rate of five <br /> sixths (5/6) working days per month ten (10) working days per year. <br /> As an added incentive, each employee shall be granted an <br /> additional five (5) working days per year for each completed five <br /> (5) year period of employment, not to exceed a total of thirty (30) <br /> days. <br /> Each employee shall be required to have served the equiva- <br /> lent of one (1) year of continuous service in the city in order to be <br /> eligible for his annual vacation leave. ` <br /> In the event one or more municipal holidays fall within an <br /> annual vacation leave, such holidays shall not be charged as vacation <br /> leave, and the vacation leave shall be extended accordingly. <br /> Employees who terminate employment shall be paid in a lump <br /> sum for accrued vacation leave earned prior to the effective date of <br /> termination. <br /> AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it shall be the policy of <br /> the Council that employees shall be credited with sick leave with pay <br /> at the rate of one (1) work day for each calendar month of service. <br /> Unused sick leave shall be accumulated at the rate of <br /> Twelve (12) days a year to a total of eighty (80) work days. Upon <br /> severance from the service, an employee is not entitled to receive <br /> payment for any unused sick leave. <br /> An employee who does not use his sick leave for a six- <br /> month's period is to be credited with an additional day of vacation. <br /> That special leave with pay may be granted by the City <br /> Council for employees to attend professional conferences and meetings, <br /> or to participate in some form of activity or training in the inter-- <br /> est of the City. <br /> Military leave shall beauthorized for employees who are <br /> members of the National Guard, Navy, Army, and other reserve compon- <br /> ents for a period not to exceed one hundred eighty (180) days and <br /> such wmployees shall receive full pay for up to fifteen (15) working <br /> days of said period. <br /> That if a City employee is called to jury duty, he may <br /> granted a leave of absence. with pay, provided that the department <br /> head has been notified of jury summons. <br /> That all municipal offices will be closed on the legal <br /> holidays, as setforth in the Government Code, designated;below: <br /> New Year' s Day January 1 <br /> Lincoln's Birthday February 12 <br /> `:'Washington's Birthday February 22 <br /> Memorial Day ' May 30 <br /> Independence Day July 4 . <br /> Labor Day • . . First Monday of September;. <br /> Admission Day '.September 9 <br /> Columbus Day October 12 <br /> Veterans ' Day November 11 <br /> Thanksgiving Day Last Thursday of November or date <br /> designated by the President <br /> Christmas Day December 25 <br /> Good Friday 12 Noon until 3:00 P. M. <br /> Every Statewide Election Day., <br />
