Ability to: <br /> Prepare plans and drawings neatly and accurately; prepare engineering design computations; <br /> design, prepare and validate engineering plans and studies; learn and understand Town <br /> engineering policies and procedures; learn applicable laws and regulatory codes applicable to <br /> areas of assigned responsibility; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; <br /> use and care for engineering and drafting instruments and equipment; prepare reports <br /> encompassing raw technical data; prepare effective cost estimates and recommendations; and, <br /> establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the course of work. <br /> Administer contracts, coordinate and review the work of outside consultants; design common <br /> engineering structures and facilities; use drafting and surveying instruments to prepare maps, <br /> plans, cross-sections and profiles; and,prepare quantity and cost estimates. <br /> Interpret and apply applicable codes, ordinances, rules and regulations related to development <br /> and construction, traffic safety and traffic engineering, hydrology or utility system and <br /> environmental engineering design; interpret, review and analyze development proposals,plans and <br /> specifications; make complex engineering computations and check, design and supervise the <br /> construction of a variety of public works projects; perform professional and technical support <br /> services relative to assigned area of responsibility; administer contracts; prepare specifications <br /> and write technical reports; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; <br /> establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. <br /> Experience and Training Guidelines: <br /> • Five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination sufficient to <br /> successfully perform the essential duties of the position including one-year lead capacity <br /> responsibilities. <br /> • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course <br /> work in civil engineering. <br /> Required Licenses or Certificates: <br /> • Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a professional civil engineer in the <br /> State of California. <br /> • Possession of a valid California driver's license. <br /> Working Conditions: May be required to attend to service issues after normal business hours. <br /> This position requires field work and interacts with the public. <br /> Physical demands: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard <br /> office equipment, including a computer, and to attend meetings at various sites within and away <br /> from the Town, and have availability to work off-hours shifts or events as required; strength to <br /> lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds; mobility to lead groups in activities involving <br /> steep or rough terrain; ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather and temperature <br /> conditions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to <br /> communicate in person and over the telephone. <br /> Resolution 53-I8 Page 5 <br />
