• • <br /> • Negotiates with private contractors for performing various maintenance services and <br /> projects. <br /> Abilities: <br /> • Effectively supervise the work of a maintenance crew in a variety of types of public <br /> works projects and activities. <br /> • Read and interpret plans and specifications. <br /> • Make cost estimates and develop work programs. <br /> • Keep records and make reports. <br /> • Follow oral and written instructions. <br /> • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and other <br /> employees. <br /> • Use personal computer for work scheduling and preparation of reports. <br /> Knowledge of: <br /> • Methods, equipment and materials used in the construction and maintenance of streets, <br /> trees, pathways, drainage, sewer, small structures and other various public work facilities. <br /> • Characteristics and uses of various paving materials. <br /> • Operation, maintenance, and capabilities of construction and maintenance equipment. <br /> Qualifications: <br /> • Associate degree or equivalent <br /> • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience involving equipment operation and <br /> maintenance, construction of streets, storm drains, sewers, and related facilities, or <br /> equivalent work.
