• EXHIBIT A <br /> POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br /> MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT <br /> Revision Date: October, 2012 <br /> Reports To: City Engineer/Public Works Director FLSA: Exempt <br /> Supervises: Maintenance Workers <br /> Position Description: <br /> This is a "hands-on" supervisory position. Under general direction of the City Engineer/Public <br /> Works Director, the Maintenance Superintendent plans, coordinates, assigns, supervises day-to- <br /> day operations of the Town's Maintenance division, works with the maintenance crew in the <br /> maintenance and repair of equipment, streets, paths, buildings, small bridges, trees, storm drains, <br /> sewer systems and other public facilities. Establishes project costs, assists in preparation of <br /> annual budget, evaluates and trains subordinates and performs other work as required. <br /> Examples of Duties: <br /> • Plans, supervises and works with the maintenance crew in clearing, grading, repair, and <br /> construction of waterways, slope protection, streets, pathways, driveways and parking <br /> areas which involve asphalt or concrete pavement and structures. <br /> • Plans, supervises and works the crew in rehabilitation, replacement and repair of paths, <br /> street signs, catch basins, riprap slope protection and storm drains. <br /> • Performs and supervises moderately complex carpentry projects. <br /> • Plans, supervises and works with the crew in the pruning and spraying of plant materials. <br /> • Inspects work of crew and contractors for quality and completeness. <br /> • Oversees employee safety and training programs and enforces employee safety <br /> procedures. <br /> • Oversees the maintenance and use of tools, vehicles and equipment and monitors crews <br /> for workload and proper and effective use of equipment. <br /> • Assigns personnel and equipment as needed. <br /> • Investigates accidents and equipment breakdowns. <br /> • Prepares requisitions for material, supplies and services and coordinates materials testing. <br /> • Prepares construction reports. <br /> • Keeps records and writes reports on maintenance projects and activities. <br /> • Prepares project cost estimates and schedules and aids in budget preparation. <br /> • Establishes and implements preventative maintenance, weed abatement and street <br /> sweeping programs. <br /> Resolution 61-12 Page 2 <br />
