`, Dauber referred to the letter written by Lois Hogle on garbage issues and her <br />comment that the garbage company had stated "Los Altos Hills has to find markets <br />for recycling." Dauber hoped that the garbage company had not made this <br />statement. It was agreed staff would check with Los Altos Garbage Company and let <br />Council know. <br />9. COUNCIL -INITIATED ITEMS <br />9.1 League of California Cities Mayors and Councilmembers Executive <br />Forum (Mayor Siegel) <br />Siegel referred to the executive forum to be held in July in Monterey. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Siegel, seconded by Johnson and <br />passed unanimously to authorize any Councilmember to attend the League of <br />California Cities Mayors and Councilmembers Executive Forum. <br />9.2 Palo Alto School District (Councilmember Dauber) <br />Dauber reported that the Palo Alto School District had been considering closing <br />Hoover School and moving the students to Nixon. Los Altos Hills residents would <br />then send their children to either Nixon or Juana Briones. The community was <br />quite upset over this proposal. A decision has been postponed for two to three years <br />by the Palo Alto School District Board. <br />9.3 Telecommunications Wireless Workshop (Councilmember Dauber) <br />Dauber commented that she had attended this wireless workshop on May 30th. <br />Dauber noted that many cities are proactive on this issue and they are developing <br />policies to meet the demand. The City Attorney suggested the Council hold a study <br />session on cellular sitings and the Planning Director was requested to prepare a <br />proposed policy. <br />9.4 Alpha Omega House (Mayor Siegel) <br />Council agreed to provide a dinner for the residents of Alpha Omega House either <br />the night of July 4th or July 5th. <br />9.5 Area Codes (Councilmember Dauber) <br />Dauber noted that public hearings were being held on the possibility of changing the <br />415 area code. <br />9.6 Assemblymember Byron Sher (Councilmember Dauber) <br />June 5, 1996 <br />Regular City Council Meeting <br />
