INTERVIEWS AND APPOINTMENTS TO STANDING COMMITTEES: <br /> 111/ <br /> Michael Wise, 24301 Elise Court, commented that he did not have <br /> anything to add to his application other than he understood the time <br /> commitment this committee required and he was interested in serving <br /> his community. <br /> Mary Compton, 27855 Via Ventana, noted that she was a serious amateur <br /> gardener and was familiar with the native plants of the Town. She was <br /> interested in pursuing active volunteer work now that she was retired <br /> and her children were grown. <br /> MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Tryon, seconded by van Tamelen <br /> and passed unanimously to appoint Mary Compton to the Environmental <br /> Design and Protection Committee for a term of two years. <br /> Council interviewed Christine Cole, LaVon Morton and Michael Wise for <br /> the vacancy on the Pathways , Recreation and Parks Committee. Mary <br /> Compton had also expressed an interest in this committee but had <br /> received an appointment earlier in the meeting. <br /> Christine Cole, 23219 Ravensbury Avenue, stated that she had been <br /> involved in pathways and trails for a long time. She was a member of <br /> the West Bay Trails Council and the Horsemens ' Association and she had <br /> published a newsletter related to trails and pathways for two years . <br /> 4 At this time she had applied for this committee in an effort to pursue <br /> her interest of preserving the pathways in the Town. <br /> Dot Schreiner, Chairman - Pathways , Recreation and Parks Committee , <br /> commented, in response to an inquiry from Council, that she believed <br /> the recreation and parks areas of her committee were well represented <br /> at this time and that someone to help from the southern part of Town <br /> would be an important asset to the community. <br /> LaVon Morton, 25857 Westwind Way, commented that she was continuing <br /> her interest in becoming involved in the Town' s government. She <br /> believed she had the objectivity and the vitality to work on the <br /> committee and that she also had good ideas and the time available. <br /> Mrs . Morton also noted that she had worked on a pathway system in <br /> Massachusetts . <br /> Mr. Wise reiterated the comments he made earlier in the meeting. <br /> MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by van Tamelen, seconded by Tryon <br /> and passed unanimously to appoint Christine Cole to the Pathways, <br /> Recreation and Parks Committee for a term of two years. <br /> Council interviewed Hal Nissley for the Community Relations Committee. <br /> -2- 7/19/89 <br />
