OLD BUSINESS: (continued) : <br /> 116 <br /> Council had received a request from the Los Altos High School <br /> Cheerleaders for financial assistance from the Town for their <br /> attendance at the Aloha Bowl. Staff reported that the cheerleaders had <br /> requested but not received funds from the high school, the school <br /> district and the City of Los Altos. The principal of the high school <br /> had suggested though that there were other sources of funding and <br /> methods of assistance available to the cheerleaders . <br /> Candice Dixon, Los Altos High School Cheerleader, commented briefly on <br /> their request for financial support from the communities . <br /> PASSED BY CONSENSUS: To express the Town' s support and best wishes to <br /> the Los Altos High School Cheerleaders but not appropriate any funds <br /> at this time. <br /> 7 . 5 Council and Commission Correspondence <br /> MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Johnson, seconded by Casey and <br /> passed unanimously by all members present to adopt the following <br /> policy on Council and Commission correspondence and personal contacts <br /> with outside agencies: <br /> Representing the Town: <br /> 41111, <br /> 1 . Councilmembers have the authority to represent the Town responsibly <br /> on any issue on which the Town has adopted an official position. <br /> 2 . Planning Commissioners shall represent the Town only when <br /> authorized to do so by the City Council . <br /> Correspondence: <br /> 1. Incoming: Any incoming correspondence directed to a City <br /> Councilmember or Planning Commissioner regarding the Town or Town <br /> business shall be copied to all Councilmembers and the City Manager; <br /> correspondence directed to a Commissioner shall also be copied to all <br /> other Commissioners . Such correspondence, whether directed to a <br /> Councilmember or Commissioner' s home or Town Hall , shall be given to <br /> the City Clerk for copying and distribution. Items that are <br /> considered to not be Town business, and which therefore need not be <br /> distributed, include correspondence involving activities of individual <br /> Councilmembers or Commissioners as members of outside agencies (such <br /> as the Intergovernmental Council) . <br /> 2. Outgoing. Any correspondence written by a Councilmember or <br /> Commissioner regarding the Town or Town business (which therefore <br /> shall be on Town stationery) , or on which the Councilmember or <br /> -8- 9/20/89 <br />
