SPECIAL ORDERS: Item l.a) Lairds of Town of Los Altos Hills (continued): <br />Mr. Maurer, 26170 Fremont Road, stated there were two issues regarding the house: <br />1) historical value and 2) space. In his opinion the Torun could not have froth; the <br />historical value of the house would be sacrificed if the house was renovated. <br />Mr. Ken Pastrof, 13015 Robleda Road, inquired if the possibility of using Westwind <br />Barn had been investigated since he brought it up at an earlier meeting? Mrs. <br />Margaret Hahn, 26359 Esperanza, asked if the Town had considered the cost of adding <br />on one committee roan since the need for meeting space seemed to be the major <br />concern? Mrs. Iran Goldsmith, 27330 Elena Road, stated that the Historical Society <br />would be meeting in June and at tfat tune p armed to review all of the alternatives. <br />She felt it inadvisable to make a hasty decision and wanted to see a full report <br />on realistic costs, needs, etc. Diana Miller, 550 Tyndall, Los Altos, eavende3 <br />Ed Barnes, Chairman of the Comunity Relations Committee, for his time and effort <br />spent on the possible acquisition of the historic house. Mrs. Grover Cox, 26530 <br />Conejo Court, stated that the neighbors were opposed to the location of the house <br />a' an HaI . Mr. Marc Kaufman, 14100 Donelson Place, requested clarification of <br />the financial status or the Town and the definite costs involved in the maintenance <br />and remodel of the house. <br />The City Manager, in response to Mr. Kaufman 'a question, noted that the costs <br />involved would be general fund expenditures and the Town was in a financial situation <br />to make such expenditures. <br />van Tamelen commented that the opinions of residents appeared to be evenly divided <br />on the issue of acquiring the historic house. She also noted that there was a <br />serious space need at Town Hall and the ]muse appeared to be a great opportunity <br />in view of the cost. The expansion of Town Hall was referred to in the General <br />Plan and the house would fit nicely into the Historical Preserve. van Tamelen <br />expressed concerns regarding traffic patterns and hidden costs, but noted that while <br />the acquisition of the house was not an ideal solution, it was a good one. Allison <br />and Dxonkert both commented on the need for additional space and the reference to <br />such expansion in the General Plan. Rydell questioned whether the house was going <br />to have structural alterations or be maintained in its historical state and he <br />also requested clarification of the funding for the project. <br />MITION SE03= AND CARRIED: Moved by Elnhrman, seoonded by Allison and passed <br />unanimously to accept the offer of the Eschenbrueoher House. <br />Mr. Frank Llovd, owner of the Eschenbruecher House, thanked the Council and Ed <br />Barnes for their time and consideration concerning the historic house and stated <br />he was looking forwarded to working with the Town on this project. <br />b) IANDS OF TOM OF LAS ALTOS HILLS, Fremont Road - Historical Preserve <br />Area (Fschenhr„echer House), request for approval of a special laud use <br />permit to allow the relocation of a house in excess of fifteen feet <br />on Town -owned property. <br />The Staff Planner reported that staff recmm>Pnded approval of this special land <br />use permit based on the project's conformance with the conditions of Ordinance #295. <br />Mrs. Grover Cox, 26530 Oone'o Court stated the house would be visible from their <br />here and they were also concerned about landscaping. <br />-3- <br />
