CITY COUNCIL MENL= - November 2, 1983 <br />C. <br />CONSENT CALRMAR: Items Renwed (continued): <br />(( <br />i► <br />2. Approval of Warrants: $19,356.27 <br />Allison questioned warrant #9743 and asked when this matter would be resolved. <br />The City Manager responded that a report on the Motorola radio equipment lease <br />would be completed within the week. Allison asked for clarification of warrants <br />#9798 and 9799. The City Manager responded that these supplies, for the most part, <br />were unavailable from the County. Staff had been advised of those items which <br />could have been obtained from County supplies. <br />MOTION sBCOMIDED AMID CARRIED: Moved by Allison, seconded by Proft and passed unani- <br />mously by all members present to approve the warrant list = $19,356.27. <br />D. <br />SPECIAL REPORTS: <br />1. Reports from Standing Cxmittees: none <br />2. Reports from Pd Hoc Committees: <br />a) Disaster Preparedness Subconmiittee - recxnmen dation regardinq stand-by <br />power for storm related power outages (Marc Kaufman - oral report) <br />Mark Kaufman Charman - Disaster Preparedness Subcommittee, advised Council there <br />were two areas to be considered regarding emergency stand-by power: Westwind Barn <br />and Town Hall. Concerning Westwind, there were the following options: 1) manual <br />start generator 9[ $500; alternate power supply for repeater and generator 4 $1,700; <br />and small a unt of battery stand-by power (allowing 41 four hours before one would <br />have to manually start up generator 1 $1,100. For Town Hall the options were: 1) <br />15 kilowatt generator fuel tank and weather cover and lock 1 $7,500 and manual <br />transfer switch and installation % $2,000 (manual start). Mr. Kaufman's reoom e <br />dation for Westwind was the alternate power supply for repeater and generator at <br />$ $1,700. <br />Janice Duncan, President - rrienls of Westwind, eumnented that the Barn had 24 tour <br />coverage with usually two adults on hand. <br />The City Manager suggested staff meet with Mr. Kaufman to review the options <br />presented and make a rewmnendation to Council. Council was concerned about delay; <br />extremely important the communication be available during winter storms. <br />MOTION SECONDED AMID CARRIED: Moved by Perkins, seconded by van Tamelen and passed <br />unanimously by all members present to direct staff to proceed as appropriate on <br />options presented by Mr. Kaufman to keep the Town's radio transmitting equipment <br />in operation. <br />MOTION SECOIDED AMID CARRIED: Moved by Allison, seconded by van Tamelen and passed <br />unanimously by all members present to authorize an expenditure of a maximi of <br />$2,000 for a generator and alternate pores supply at Westwind Barn. <br />3.
