Presentations from the Floor: (Continued) <br />Councilmembers concurred with the urgency in getting this matter settled, the need <br />for those involved with the school to explore fully alternative solutions and the <br />safety problems prevalent at this intersection. Mayor McReynolds urged the Principal, <br />Sister Angela O'Donoghue, to accept the Town's offer and have the Security Officer <br />address each classroom on safety precautions. <br />Sister Angel O'Dono hue, Princi al/St. Nicholas School, accepted the offer, stating <br />t at s e wou sc e u e t Is wit t e Security Officer as soon as possible. <br />PASSEDBY CONSENSUS: By all Councilmembers to direct the City Manager to meet with <br />al Invo ved Inc uding the State which bears a responsibility) to formulate a solution <br />to the crossing problem at this intersection and that the services of the Town's <br />Security Officer be retained (with funding approved) for the next three weeks. Also, <br />that the City Manager return with a full report at the next Council meeting, 11/7/79. <br />D. STAFF - REPORTS, CORRESPONDENCE & ANNOUNCEMENTS: <br />1. City Manager: <br />a) Report on Multi -Purpose Barn. <br />The City Manager advised of the work accomplished to date and gave a brief review of <br />expenditures forecasted in his memo of September 22, 1979, noting that the Crew would <br />perform the installation work on the two fuel tanks with the extra appropriation needed <br />only to cover actual costs. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Councilman Nystrom, seconded by Councilwoman <br />Hillestad and carried unanimously to appropriate $10,000 from the Unappropriated <br />Capital Reserve for the purchase of two fuel tanks for installation at the Multi - <br />Purpose Barn. <br />b) Report on outcome of meeting, Three Forks Lane area, <br />The City Manager provided an oral report on the outcome of the recent meeting with <br />the developer of Country Way and the field trip with the Mayor and Councilman Perkins. <br />Discussion followed between the City Manager and Council as to whether a workable <br />solution had been reached, the possibility of having the traffic engineer currently <br />working in the area on another project do an investigation on the Three Forks Lane/ <br />Page Mill Road intersection and the necessity of determining the best resolution to <br />this problem now that some of the options had been lost to to timing efficiencies. <br />Commissioner Kuranoff outlined what he believed were the feelings of the majority <br />of the residents in this area, calling for limited improvements at this time. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Councilwoman Hillestad, seconded by Councilman <br />Nystrom and passed unanimously to direct the City Engineer to work the traffic <br />engineer, Mr. Larsen, to provide Council with a traffic study and recommendations at <br />their next meeting, November 7, 1979. <br />E. SPECIAL ORDERS: <br />1. Ordinance # providing for historical preservation. (FIRST READING) <br />The City Attorney introduced the ordinance, advising of the effects it would have <br />and, if Council wished, of the stricter enforcement measures which might be included. <br />Councilmembers discussed with the City Attorney the alternatives of prosecuting <br />violators which might be used and various guidelines contained in the ordinance now. <br />-3- <br />
