II, 460-1101 <br />Mayor Hillestad called the Joint Meeting of the City Council and Planning <br />Commission to order at 7:15 P.M. in the Council Chambers of Town Hall. <br />A. ROLL CALL & PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: <br />Present: Mayor Hillestad, Councilmembers McReynolds, Nystrom, Perkins <br />and Proft. <br />Chairman Stewart, Commissioners Carico, Dochnahl, Lachenbruch <br />and vanTamelen. <br />Absent: Commissioners Kuranoff and Reeves. <br />Staff: City Manager Robert Crowe, City Attorney Frank Gillio, City <br />Engineer John Carlson and Deputy City Clerk Susan Buttler. <br />Press: Sharon Noguchi, Palo Alto Times and Florence Pallakoff, Los <br />Altos Town Crier. <br />B. Councilman McReynolds - Ride on new County Transit Bus. <br />Following a brief delay, the County Transit bus arrived and all persons <br />present heard a presentation on the merits of the diesel powered engine <br />and proceeded on a short ride. <br />C. Steering Committee Report - Recommended Action Items. <br />Councilman Perkins provided introduction to the Report, outlining as <br />follows: (1) The Committee endeavored to maintain the spirit of commun- <br />ication which permeated the first Joint Meeting; (2) Five general cate- <br />gories had evolved with specific topics within each of these; (3) Only <br />overall input was needed now and problem solving would follow when <br />assignments were completed; and, (4) Priorities had not been determined <br />by the Committee, but would have to be resolved on an individual basis. <br />Councilman Perkins then proceeded through Items I, III and V which the <br />Committee recommended as action items for the City Council. Councilman <br />McReynolds addressed Item III, stressing the need for Staff and Committee <br />awareness of Town philosophy as projects are dealt with by their members. <br />Councilmembers and Commissioners then discussed the upcoming Seminar to <br />be conducted by Spangle and Associates and the need for a seminar with <br />Staff and Committee members to promote awareness of the issues outlined <br />in the Steering Committee's Recommended Action Items. <br />
