CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - March g, 1376 <br />4, 4. PRESENTATION: OUTGOING COUNCIL MEMBERS: <br />Mayor Grabowski presented the outgoing Council Members with a framed <br />picture of the Town's seal as represented in the Chamber's stained glass <br />window, thanking Councilman Helgesson for his many years of dedicated <br />service to the Town, and Councilman He Reynolds for his efforts both on the <br />Planning Commission and then the City Council. <br />Because Councilwoman Miller was not in attendance, the Mayor requested that <br />the City Manager see that she received her picture. <br />6. ADMINISTRATION OF OATH OF OFFICE - NE!! COUNCIL MEMBERS: <br />Mayor Grabowski announced that three vacancies now existed on the Council, <br />and requested Mr. Crowe, in his capacity as City Clerk.to administer the <br />oath of office to the Council -elect. <br />The Oath of Office was administered according to Government Code by the <br />City Clerk to David Proft, Lucile Hillestad and Keith Brown, respectively. <br />Immediately upon signing their oath, the new Council Members took their <br />seat at the Council dais. <br />Mayor Grabowski commented that the new Council Members would find out soon <br />enough the work involved in the legislative process. fie said he felt the <br />new Council could work closely together for the Tam, and hoped the new <br />members would vigorously defend the zoning and philosophy of Los Altos Hills. <br />6. COUNCIL REORGANIZATION: <br />a) Election of Mayor: <br />Mayor Grabowski nominated Councilman Cheney as Mayor, and upon suggestion <br />from Councilman Bram, amended the nomination to read for a term of two <br />years. Councilman Brown seconded the motion. <br />With the unanimous consent of Council, nomination for the office of Mayor <br />for the term of two years was closed, and Councilman Cheney received the <br />unanimous roll call vote of Council to succeed Mayor Grabowski in that office. <br />Mayor Cheney thanked Council for their vote of confidence. He noted that in <br />his three years on the Council that he had served under two great Mayors, <br />Itelgesson and Grabowski, and he hoped he could serve as well. <br />b) Election of Mayor Pro Tem: <br />Councilwoman Hillestad nominated ex -Mayor Grabowski as Mayor Pro Tem, and <br />Councilman Broin seconded the motion. <br />Councilman Proft moved, seconded by Hayor Cheney to close nominations, and <br />ex -Mayor Grabowski succeeded to the office of Mayor Pro Tem by unanimous <br />4W roll call vote. <br />-2- <br />
