Approval of Warrants: $28,053.23 <br />After questions pertaining to several specific warrant numbers, <br />Councilman Grabowski moved, seconded by Councilman Cheney and <br />unanimously approved, to accept the Warrant List in the amount of <br />$28,053.23. <br />3. a) Resolution # 748 requesting termination of the Social Security <br />(Old ageHills, <br />urvivors SbiCatiforeement between the Town of Los <br />Alto <br />City Manager Bruce Lawson summarized his Memo to Council concerning <br />the request of the employees of the Town to terminate the Social <br />Security (OASDI) contract, who were doubly covered under this agreement <br />and the State of California's Public Employee's Retirement System <br />(PERS). Mr. Lawson also explained that the request to terminate the <br />Agreement with the State would not be effective under the law for a period <br />of two years after the request had been filed with the State, and that <br />if the Town so desired, the request could be withdrawn at any time within <br />that waiting period. <br />After discussion, Councilman Cheney felt he would like to see more data <br />%, before he could feel knowledgeable enought to vote on this matter. Council <br />members also questioned the differences in savings to the Town and <br />Employees with the reverence of the Social Security agreement, and the <br />coverage afforded by PERS in contrast. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Councilman Grabowski moved, seconded by Council- <br />woman Miller to adopt Resolution #748 requesting termination of the Social <br />Security agreement between the Town and the State of California. The motion <br />passed by the following vote: <br />AYE: Councilmen Grabowski, McReynolds, Councilwoman Miller, Mayor Helgesson. <br />NO: Councilman Cheney <br />0 <br />C. PRESENTATIONS FRO14 THE FLOOR: <br />1. Mr. Hilton Minckley, Secretary of the Environmental Desinn Committee: <br />tir. Hinckley brought before the Council the request of the Committee <br />that the property owned by the Town at the corners of Fremont Road and <br />Edith Avenue be zoned for open space. <br />At the request of Council, Staff was directed to check on the zoning <br />of this property, and Mayor Helgesson commented that Council would be <br />in favor of having an open space zoning on the property if it were not <br />already the case. <br />-2- <br />
