Natural paths (the least expensive) were preferred 6 to 1, and although it <br />was a near 50/50 split, the majority were against paving bike paths along main <br />arterial roads. <br />5. Coordinating our path system with neighboring communities was favored 4 to 3, <br />and nearly 2 to 1 favored completion of the Town's Master Path Plan to provide <br />continuous equestrian -pedestrian paths through the Town. <br />6. About 60% felt homeowners should be responsible to keep pathways bordering <br />their property clear of weeds. <br />Mrs. Ward noted many of the residents had no opinion as to the Town's policy on <br />variances, but the majority of those responding felt the current policy was not <br />too liberal. <br />4W <br />The ranking as to bothersome noises was as follows: <br />1. Motorcycles 6. Harking dogs <br />2. Mini -bikes 7. Autos <br />3. Jet aircraft 8. Amplified music <br />4. Trucks 9. Foothill Expressway <br />5. Interstate #280 10. Sports events <br />Miscellaneous subjects covered: <br />1. A slight majority favored licensing of all horses, while 448 residents were <br />opposed to only licensing boarded horses. <br />2. Nearly 2 to 1 felt those who board horses should obtain a Use Permit. <br />3. About 70% were opposed to the Town providing a public equestrian riding ring. <br />4. A majority were opposed to the Town establishing restrictions on the <br />destruction of trees on private property. <br />5. Over 75% favored the current voluntary sewer policy as well as limited <br />consecutive terms for planning commissioners and committee members. <br />6. A majority indicated their public spirit by indicating their willingness to <br />volunteer for community projects. <br />Mrs. Ward stated residents' comments on Town goals had not been finalized; but <br />many indicated the desire to retain rural living, keep the master plan and maintain <br />one acre minimums. <br />The many voluntary hours spent by the Los Altos Hills Association in compiling <br />the data was lauded by the Council and Mayor Henson stated a resolution had been <br />prepared commending them for this public service. (See below under Resolutions.) <br />UNSCHEDULED ITEM NO. 1: <br />DISCUSSION OF FEASIBILITY TO PURCHASE HEAVY EQUIPMENT FOR TOWN'S PUHLIC WMM <br />DEPARTMENT. <br />MOPICN, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Councilman Grabowski moved, seconded by Helgesson <br />and carried unanimously that the feasibility of the purchase of public works <br />heavy equipment be referred to the Fiscal Planning Committee for study and a <br />report be provided for the August 3 Council Agenda. <br />-2- <br />
