NEW BUSINESS: Study on Steep Lands (Cont'd.): - <br />' ACTION: <br />That the Planning Commission be directed to make <br />a study and hold whatever public hearings are <br />necessary with a view toward decreasing the <br />density of the higher area lands and produce <br />some formula according to their findings. <br />MOTION: Aiken; SECOND: Fowle <br />'Mr. David Jansson, 27440 Sherlock Road, read .and submitted to <br />the Council a petition containing 25 signatures objecting to <br />any action on the part ofthe Council or Planning Commission <br />that would change the one acre zoning. <br />Mr. Edward W. Heidler, 2371 Carmel Drive, Palo Alto, owner of <br />property on Moody Road, also objected to. changing the <br />minimum acreage.. <br />Councilman Aiken stressed he was not speaking of a blanket <br />two -acre zoning and urged the citizens to attend the public <br />I <br />earings set by the Planning Commission and, make known their <br />desires. <br />Messrs. Donald E. Spencer, 27490 Sherlock Road, Arthur <br />C / Lochinvar, of Buena Vista Drive, and T. Kendall, 27961 Central <br />Drive, expressed the opinion the proposed study would benefit <br />the Town. <br />Councilman Bowler contended. a study was not necessary, that <br />for every real problem there is a real solution covered by <br />the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances. <br />Messrs.•Glen S. Taylor, 1229 Forest Avenue, Palo Alto, <br />Gerald Ferrari, 25791 Moody Road, Los Altos Hills, B. J. <br />Benjamin, 325 Stanford Avenue, Menlo Park, and W. R. Ayers, <br />918 Dartshire Way, Sunnyvale Gall owners of property in <br />Los Altos Hills) were of the opinion the steep areas were <br />presently being handled effectively and objected to any change <br />of the one acre zoning. <br />In view of the discussion, Councilman Aiken, with the consent <br />of Councilman Fowls, withdrew the original Motion and Second <br />.and proposed the following: <br />ACTION: <br />That the Planning Commission be directed to make <br />a study and hold whatever public hearings are <br />necessary with a view toward clarifying the <br />5� Town's requirements for land use in the higher <br />and steeper areas of the Town. <br />.MOTION: Aiken; SECOND: Fowls, <br />-3- <br />
