OLD BUSINESS: Equestrian Underpass (Cont d.): <br />It was discussed by the Council that any contribution <br />should be made for an "acceptable" crossing and that the <br />amount be based on a percentage of the 1965-66 fiscal budget.. <br />AMENDED MOTION: <br />That the Town of Los Altos Hills go on record as <br />approving a contribution for an acceptable cross- <br />ing of 1% of the next fiscal year's budget. <br />AMENDED BY: Bowler <br />Councilman Aiken preferred not to second the Motion and <br />suggested the contribution be 3/4 of 1% of the budget, a <br />more appropriate figure for the Town's budget. Councilman <br />Bowler agreed to this further amendment, withdrawing his <br />Motion. <br />AMENDED MOTION: <br />That the Town of Los .altos Hills go on record <br />as approving a contribution for an acceptable <br />crossing at the Page Mill cloverleaf of 3/4 of <br />1% of the 1965-66 fiscal budget. <br />O AMENDED BY: Bowler; ACCEPTED BY: Aiken <br />Following discussion on the Motion, Councilman Bowler stated <br />the point must be made that whether or not all citizens <br />approve of horses, the horses are here and an integral part <br />of the rural atmosphere for which the Town was incorporated, <br />and the Council nust make the kind of provision that makes <br />for co -existence within the Town. <br />The Question was called <br />ROLL. CALL: ,AYES: Aiken, Bowler, Fowle, Mayor Henley <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Clayton <br />N EW BUSINESS: <br />].. Tree Planting throughout the Town. <br />Commissioner Hawley reported the Planning Commission has <br />long been concerned on ways to encourage better tree planting <br />along the streets to maintain the rural atmosphere of the <br />Town and requested the -Council to appoint a committee, with <br />,experience in this field, to submit a comprehensive report <br />as to kinds of trees and shrubs, cost of the plantings, and <br />means of financing ( a community effort, i.e., Arbor Day), <br />�---) plus a study to determine the cost to the Town in acquiring <br />the necessary equipment to have the trees planted and maintained. <br />-3- <br />
