OLD BUSINESS:. <br />l.- Review of Budget. <br />Following discussion of the Unappropriated Surplus (path fund), <br />Special Projects (overall sewer study within Los Altos Hills), <br />Accounting .and Audit, the,Mayor requested that at the time <br />future budgets are proposed, the City Manager prepare an <br />accompanying unaudited financial statement showing the specific <br />amounts in each separate -fund for the past fiscal year. <br />2. Review of Policing. <br />Mayor Henley reported a Citizens' Committee of five to seven <br />members is being formed from the names submitted and that a <br />report will be forthcoming as soon as possible on the amount <br />of policing required and the manner in which it should be <br />provided. - <br />Council was gratified at the response of the Town's people to <br />this important Citizens' Committee. <br />Public Address System.- Town Hall. - <br />Councilman Aiken referred to his written recommendations dated <br />August 20, 1965 for a 10 -watt amplifier sound system with nine <br />microphones (1 lavalier mike), 2 column loudspeakers and the <br />latest automatic control device, at a cost of $470.00. This <br />estimate was submitted on the basis that two citizens of the <br />Town have volunteered their services for the installation. <br />ACTION: <br />That the Council approve the installation of a <br />sound system in the Town Hall, as generally described _ <br />in Councilman Aiken's report dated August 20, 1965, <br />said system not to exceed 96500.00.. <br />MOTION: Aiken;. SECOND: Fowle <br />Councilman Bowler suggested the Motion be amended to include <br />the allocation be increased to include installation charges; <br />however, it was discussed as to whether or not this was the <br />best arrangement wherein .the installation was not guaranteed. <br />Council compared .cost and. equipment of other bids submitted - <br />(a difference upward of approximately $50.00) which included a <br />warranty on the installation and, parts of the system, but did <br />not contain the automatic control device. <br />Since the Council considered thecompresser/limiter a vital <br />part of the 'system, the Motion and Second were withdrawn and <br />the City Manager instructed to obtain resubmission of bids <br />to include nine microphones and the compresser/limiter. <br />Since the device is not yet on the market, Councilman Aiken <br />-2- <br />
