Huber <br />Petitions: - <br />St. Nicholas Women's Guild (72 petitioners endorsing Guild Res.) <br />Dad's Club of St. Nicholas School (54 " 11 Club " ) <br />Saint Nicholas Parish (486. petitioners) <br />Councilman Aiken submitted and read "Traffic Safety Report" <br />dated October 3, 1964, on file at the Town Hall. Summarily, <br />the report suggested two courses of action: <br />1. Immediate installation of safety devices in the <br />worst locations (primarily O'Keefe Lane and <br />entrance of St. Nicholas School). <br />2. Institution of a town -wide safety study to - <br />include all facets of the problem - vehicular, <br />as well as pedestrian traffic ( including foot <br />paths). . <br />Councilman Aiken offered ten concrete proposals in an effort <br />to reinforce the Town's determination to take remedial action <br />now. Councilman Aiken personally expressed his appreciation <br />to the Staff and the Mayor for their help. Councilman Aiken <br />received a rising ovation'from a full hall. <br />The Mayor on behalf of the Council thanked Councilman Aiken <br />and the Staff for the survey. <br />ACTION: <br />That the Council approve the Traffic Safety Report, <br />- dated October 3, 1964, with thanks, and to express <br />"a general agreement with its subject. <br />MOTION: Fowls; SECOND: Bowler; VOTE: Passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Aiken proposed two motions in conjunction with <br />the survey: - r <br />ACTION: <br />That the Council adopt recommendation No. 1, <br />Items A through K (but excluding ➢, plus sub- <br />stituting Natoma Road for Elena Road under Item <br />_ H - Black Mountain Road at Elena) of the Traffic <br />Safety Report dated October 3, 1964, and <br />'..I That action be taken at the localities listed. <br />MOTION: Aiken; SECOND: Fowls <br />-2- <br />
