Spencer, informe6 <br />JOINT STUDY - <br />the Council of a proposed study of landslide and earthquake probd <br />LANDSLIDE AND <br />lems to be made jointly by the Towns of Woodside and Portola Valley, <br />EARTHQUAKE PROBLEMS <br />and urged the Town to seek to join in this study. <br />The City Manager indicated that a copy of this letter has been for- <br />warded to the Planning Commission. Mayor Henley stated that he <br />would like to have some reaction from the Planning Commission. No <br />action was taken. <br />4. Letter of May 26, 1967, from Alan S. Hart, Engineer, Di- <br />JUNIPERO SERRA <br />vision of Highways,is a reply to the City Manager's letter concern. <br />i'REEAAY - <br />ing prohibition of trucks on Junipero Serra Freeway, Route 280. <br />PROHIBITION OF <br />Mr. Hart, in his letter, stated that a study is currently underway <br />TRUCKS <br />to determine whether a continuation of a ban on trucks, on the <br />MacArthur Freeway (Oakland), would be in the best public interest. <br />- Commissioner Bowler raised a question of legislation relative to <br />Interstate routes, and the Mayor asked the City Attorney to in- <br />vestigate this legislation. <br />5. Letter of May 16, 1967, from Huey D. Johnson, Western <br />THE NATURE <br />Regional Director of The Nature Conservancy, offered the Town of <br />CONSERVANCY - <br />Los Altos Hills the 55-acre parcel of the Byrne property, recent- <br />DISCUSSION OF <br />ly given The Nature Conservancy. The property is being offered for <br />LAND PURCHASE <br />a sum of ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($6100,000) with the stipula- <br />tion that a parcel of land be acquired to connect the parcel with <br />Moody road; that the property remain in an undeveloped state as <br />permanent 'open space', and that the property carry the name of <br />'Albert Barnitz Byrne Preserve' in memory of the donor. <br />Following discussion, Councilman Davey offered a motion that the <br />Council wishes to acquire the 55-acre parcel of land offered by <br />The Nature Conservancy as 'open space' for the Town of Los Altos <br />Hills. <br />Councilman Benson commented on the condition of the offer relative <br />to the purchase of a corridor, between The Nature Conservancy land <br />and Moody Court. }le stated that this may be & handicap to the Town <br />in purchasing the 55-acre parcel. <br />Councilman Davey added to her motion: That the Town's Staff be <br />authorized to take the necessary steps to fulfill the purchase of <br />the land between The Nature Conservancy property and Moody Court. <br />The motion received a c^oc:'_1 fron Councilgen D noon. The Council <br />concurred by a unanimous vote. <br />6. Letter of May 24, 1967 from Fred E.
