COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />(!} 1. Tree Committee - Chairman Burchard. <br />Chairman Burchard's comments related to a periodic report and <br />future plans, which included his plea for the maintenance <br />personnel and truck as suggested in the 1966-67 Budget and <br />re -landscaping of the Town Hall as a focal point of interest <br />and color. In regard to the landscaping, there has been an <br />offer of aid from the Men's Garden Club of Santa Clara County, <br />which includes a number of distinguished professional members, <br />to aid in the planning and planting; however, the substantial <br />amount of planning and paper work required for such a project <br />would require a fee, which Mr. Burchard requested the City <br />Council to consider, and to be charged against the remaining <br />funds in the current budget. - <br />Council endorsed this program, as long as it would be contained <br />within the $2,000..00 proposed for the Town Hall, and was <br />gratified at the concern of the 1^en's Garden Club. It was <br />suggested the Tree Committee be designated as the official <br />custodian of the Town Hall and that the Committee submit a <br />specific plan for Council consideration,. to include the land- <br />scaping of all factors, such as, the storage building, parking <br />area, lawns and exterior planting.. <br />(, ) ACTION: <br />That the Tree Committee be authorized funds <br />from the 1965-1966 Budget not to exceed $500.00 <br />and that a plan for the landscaping of the Town <br />Hall, plus parking access and other functions of <br />the grounds, be submitted. <br />MOTION: Davey; SECOND: Bowler <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: Aiken, Bowler, Davey, Fowle <br />Slayor Henley <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />STAFF HEIGHTS: <br />1. City Attorney - Congregation Beth Am. <br />City Attorney presented Mr. Gerald D. Marcus and James L. <br />Sammett, representatives of the Congregation Beth 1m, so that <br />the matter of the private school on the grounds might be <br />clarified. <br />Mr. Marcus apologized for the delays due to the untimely <br />passing of Mike Stern, who was to present their case, and wished <br />to make clear that the Congregation has tried to live within <br />-- the framework of its use permit, and if there were any <br />violations, it was only through the innocence of its governing <br />-2- <br />
