110 <br /> • <br /> (b) Traffic and Public Safety Committee: <br /> (1) To study and recommend ways and means of enhancing the rural quality <br /> of the Town and of improving traffic flow and safety un existing and <br /> proposed roads and public property within the Town. The study shall <br /> include such matters as channelization of traffic, location of traffic <br /> control devices, speed zones and traffic islands; <br /> (2) To study and make recommendations as requested on the traffic aspect <br /> of the circulation element of the General Plan; <br /> (3) To make continuing studies and record criminal activities within the <br /> Town; to recommend ordinances, resolutions and other measures they <br /> feel will assure a secure environment; <br /> (4) To confer with municipal authorities on matters relating to the <br /> suppression of crime and protection of life and property; <br /> (5) To interact with similar bodies or agencies and appropriate police <br /> authorities in other jurisdictions, in order to expand the Committee's <br /> capabilities in effecting reduction in local crime. <br /> (c) Noise Abatement Committee: <br /> (1) To study and make recommendations on matters relating to the inden- <br /> tification, measurement, and control of noise within the Town; <br /> (2) To recommend ordinances and resolutions for the establishment of <br /> rules and regulations governing the suppression of noise; <br /> (3) To work with Federal , state and local agencies to effect reduction of <br /> noise levels created by aircraft, motor vehicles and other machinery <br /> which fall under their jurisdiction. <br /> (d) Environmental Design Committee: <br /> (1 ) To study and make recommendations on matters relating to landscaping <br /> of public property, including roadways; <br /> (2) To study and recommend an overall tree planting and beautification <br /> program for the Town; <br /> (3) To recommend planting needed to preserve and enhance the rural <br /> nature of the Town, including areas of new subdivisions; <br /> (4) To recommend ordinances and resolutions for the establishment of <br /> rules and regulations governing the planting, maintaining and pre- <br /> serving trees and other forms of landscaping within the Town; <br /> (5) To review site, landscape, and architectural designs connected with <br /> applications for projects upon official referral to help secure <br /> compatibility with adopted Town objectives. <br /> -2- <br />
