NEW BUSINESS (Cont 'd. ) <br /> ‘1_ 3. rTract No. 2554 (Western States Land Cop. ) - Appeal of Improvement <br /> 1, 1 Bond Penalty. <br /> Mr. Clayton J. Smith stated that the improvements to be completed <br /> in Tract No. 2554 are the construction of a fence along creek <br /> right-of-way, removal of well casing, and street cleaning of <br /> Palo Hills Drive . <br /> Mr. Harvey Koch, representing Western States Land Corp. , <br /> estimated the cost of these improvements to be less than $700. <br /> and asked the indulgence of the Council in waiving the $20,000. <br /> penalty. <br /> ACTION: <br /> That the action on the request of the Western States <br /> Land Corp. for appeal of Improvement Bond Penalty for <br /> improvements in Tract No. 2554 be tabled until the <br /> work is, in fact, completed; that in the interim a <br /> study be conducted by the Council and City Attorney <br /> to determine an equitable solution. <br /> MOTION: Bowler; SECOND: Henley; VOTE: Passed unanimously <br /> 4. Annexation - Mayfield No. 1. <br /> In the absence of the City Attorney and ofa resolution initialing <br /> the annexation proceedings of Mayfield No. 1, action was postponed <br /> until the next Regular Meeting on August 19, 1963. <br /> Mr. Charles Keenan, of Archway, Inc. , 150 University Ave. , <br /> Palo Alto , appeared before the Council and solicited the coopera- <br /> tion of the Town of Los Altos Hills with the City of Palo Alto in <br /> obtaining sewers for the Arastradero Hills Subdivision. <br /> Mayor Clayton stated that he would contact Mayor Dean Cresap of <br /> Palo Alto in order to set up a meeting to discuss the matter of <br /> sewers in the Page Mill area. <br /> 5. Elena Road, MCS Project 63-1. <br /> Mr. Richard I. Whaley, City Engineer, revealed the lowest bid <br /> from Sondgroth Bros . to be TWENTY THOUSAND, NINE HUNDRED AND <br /> SEVENTY-FIVE DOLLARS and Thirty Cents ($20,975.30) for the pro- <br /> posed improvement of Elena Road , MCS Project 63-1, but stated . <br /> that approval of this project from the State of California has <br /> not yet been received, and recommended the Council not award the <br /> contract until the State ' s approval has been gained. <br /> Discussion by the Council followed relative to having this work <br /> completed prior to the start of the school term and the winter <br /> rains , and concurred that action should be taken to award the <br /> bid contingent upon the approval of the State of California. <br /> -3- <br />
