Mayor Treat presented a letter from Sheriff Melvin <br />Hawley relating to pinball machines. This letter was referred <br />to Chief of Police McKenna for consideration. <br />There was a general discussion that the council is <br />considering the Lakewood Plan as a model for contracting ser- <br />vices in the Town of Los Altos Hills by Santa Clara County. <br />A letter was presented from Mr. Frank Thill, County <br />of Santa Clara Executive, which was read by City € lerk Paulman, <br />advising the council that the Board of Supervisors of Santa <br />Clara County is considering the Uniform Sales Tax Act of 1955, <br />as to percentage of sales tax to be levied. It was recommended <br />that the letter be acknowledged and tabled for further action. <br />Ordinance No. I was presented for the second reading. <br />This ordinance relates to rules and regulations prescribed by <br />California State Department of Public Health. It was moved by <br />Mr. Rothwell, seconded by Mr. Bledsoe that this ordinance be <br />adopted. Upon call of roll, it was adopted and passed by the <br />following vote: <br />Ayes: Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle, Rothwell and Treat <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: None <br />Mr. Simrell gave an informal report on the meeting <br />of the planning commission that a study was being conducted <br />on variances, building permits, etc. At present applications <br />for variances and building permits are submitted to the plan- <br />ning commission, checked by the county health department, <br />city engineer and then taken to the county building department. <br />- 3 - 2-1.4-56 <br />
