6. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Review the Installation of Proposed of Bicycle Yield Signs for Byrne Preserve <br />(Staff: R. Chiu) <br />Director Chiu presented the staff report. <br />Council discussion ensued. <br />Nancy Couperus, Los Altos Hills, confirmed that adding signs is a safety issue. <br />Sue Welch, Los Altos Hills, said that run-ins with bicycles is not just a single <br />incident, it happens continually. <br />MOTION MADE AND SECONDED: Councilmember Waldeck moved to <br />approve the installation of proposed bicycle yield signs for Byrne Preserve. The <br />motion was seconded by Mayor Radford. <br />Motion Carried 4 to 1: <br />AYES: Councilmember HarpootlianMayor Radford, Vice Mayor <br />CorriganCouncilmember Waldeck <br />NOES: Councilmember Larsen <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />B. Review Options for Gardner Bullis School Crosswalk Improvements and if <br />Appropriate Approve a Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Award a <br />Contract to Implement (Staff: R. Chiu) <br />Director Chiu presented the staff report. <br />Heather Rose, Los Altos Hills Education Committee Chair, said the new <br />location would be beneficial as it has better visibility and less shade. <br />Council discussion ensued. <br />MOTION MADE AND SECONDED: Mayor Radford moved to accept the <br />recommendation to move the sidewalk and install flashing crosswalk signs to <br />include anyone coming from Fremont Pines.
