• Design and prepare plans and specifications for public works projects. <br /> • Develop revised design and construction standards for public works structures and <br /> appurtenances. <br /> • Investigate field problems and public works service requests affecting property owners, <br /> contractors and maintenance operations; resolve problems with minimum supervision to <br /> achieve satisfactory results. <br /> • Administer design and construction contracts including capital improvement projects; <br /> coordinate and review the work of outside consultants; review and recommend payments <br /> and billing for contracted services related to assigned projects; negotiate prices and <br /> schedules, as necessary. <br /> • Request and participate in the collection of survey and mapping data. <br /> • Prepare estimates and feasibility reports for new or modified services and structures. <br /> • Participate in the plan check, review and processing of plans for private developments <br /> affecting Town streets, sewers, storm drains and related public works facilities; assure <br /> compliance with appropriate codes, ordinances, rules and regulations. Conduct field <br /> inspection as necessary. <br /> • Prepare visual presentations and staff reports. <br /> • Prepare special engineering studies and reports. <br /> • Attend work related training for public works job function requirements. <br /> • Coordinate public works activities with other Town departments and with outside <br /> agencies. <br /> • Assist in the development and implementation of Town and/or departmental goals, <br /> policies,procedures and priorities. <br /> • Interpret and apply relevant codes, ordinances, rules and regulations; and as assigned, <br /> oversee regulatory agency permits and requirements. <br /> • Check plans for accuracy, suitability and completeness, and make recommendations for <br /> revision and improvement. <br /> • Meet and confer with developers, contractors, engineers and the general public relative to <br /> Town policies, regulations and procedures; coordinate discrepancies and problem <br /> situations with a wide variety of outside parties. <br /> Resolution 53-IS Page 3 <br />
