tar CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - June 5, 1974 <br />Councilwoman Miller asked that the Report from the Pathway Committee, Cc <br />Item E1, p. 2 be clarified in that the subdivision map clearly showed <br />a right of way for a path, but it was impossible to build because of <br />the impossible road conditions. (Minutes of June 5, 1974) <br />Mayor Grabowski thanked the Committee and said their report dated <br />April 24, 1974 was accepted by Council. <br />2. Discussion of the W_i_llard M Griffin Home> Foothill College: <br />Mrs. Lucille Gould of the Town's Historical Society gave a presentation <br />on behalf of Mrs. Florence Fava, Town Historian. <br />Firs. Gould summarized actions of the Foothill College to date regarding <br />their consideration of razing this designated historical site located on <br />the college campus. Officials of the College contend that it would be <br />more costly to renovate the home than the cost of building a new facility. <br />After a recent meeting with College officials, Mrs. Fava reported to <br />Council that the officials had asked her if the Town would be willing to <br />help finance the renovations, and the item had been agendad for further <br />study. <br />Mrs. Gould showed slides of the area from the time the land was used as <br />an Ohlone Indian reservation, and traced it down to the present. She <br />` also read a statement from the Historical Society regarding their views <br />on the financial responsibility for the restoration of the home. <br />After discussion, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare an appropriate <br />resolution condemning the destruction of the Willard M. Griffin Home and <br />the Tea House. <br />MOTION SECOMOED AND CARRIED: Councilman Cheney moved, seconded by Mayor <br />Grabowski and unanimously carried to adopt Resolution N7Z4 condemning the <br />destruction of the Millard M. Griffin Home and Tea Garden by Foothill College. <br />3. Discussion of Traffic and Public Safet Committee recommendation re: <br />9icvc e r mance an an oned . Ve is a tement Ordinance. <br />Mir. Lawson summarized actions to date on this matter and the report of <br />the Traffic and Public Safety Committee. After a brief discussion, <br />Council consensus was to redirect the ordinances back to the City Attorney <br />for appropriate revisions. <br />4. Discussion and determination of Corporation Yard Site: <br />Mayor Grabowski stated that at the request of the members of Council who <br />served on the Ad Hoc Corporation Yard Committee, the Council would hear <br />a report of their actions to date. <br />Councilwoman Miller, who was a member of the Commitee began her report by <br />stating that the Committee had not determined that the corner of Edith and <br />Fremont was the hard and fast location of a proposed yard.
