Kentch, R.S., District Sanitarian, Santa Clara County <br />Health Department, dated March 14, 1969. <br />City Clerk noted Planning Commission had concurred that a Citizens Committee <br />comprised of horsemen and non -horsemen should be appointed to carefully and <br />thoroughly review all animal controls and ordinance requirements. <br />7) H. H. Semans, President of Foothill College, dated March 14, 1969, provid- <br />ing notice that all dogs not on a leash "in hand" will be picked up on <br />Foothill College by the Santa Clara County Animal Shelter and held until the <br />owners claim them. Dr. Semans stated this action is necessary to keep dogs <br />out of the Foothill College Campus Center where food is served, and requested <br />Council publicity to dog owners in the area. <br />Council concurred that all area newspapers should be requested to assist in <br />providing publicity to prevent dog owners having to go to the inconvenience <br />and cost of keeping their pets at the Shelter. <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS: <br />1. City Clerk announced League of California Cities will hold a Mayors' and <br />Councilmen's Legislative Institute in Sacramento on April 14-16, 1969 to <br />consider current legislation affecting Cities. <br />SCHEDULED ITEM NO. 1: <br />CONSIDERATION OF CONTRACT AUTHORIZING CONNECTION TO COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS /.1 <br />SYSTEM. <br />Staff report was presented noting the Council had authorized connection to <br />the County Communications System on February 17, 1969 and the formal contract <br />establishing a charge of $7.66 per hour for maintenance was before them for <br />consideration and adoption. <br />City Clerk stated that based on existing contracts with other jurisdictions, <br />County officials have advised that annual maintenance charges should not exceed <br />$100.00 and that the Council had previously approved the acquisition of the <br />radio unit to be installed in the Code Enforcement Officer's vehicle at a <br />cost not to exceed $1,000.00. Pursuant to the provisions of the contract, <br />City Clerk recommended the Code Enforcement Officer be designated as Deputy <br />Communications Operator. Council concurred. <br />MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Councilman Benson moved, seconded by <br />Helgesson, that the City Council approve the agreement for communication <br />services with the County of Santa Clara and that the Mayor and City Clerk <br />be authorized to execute same, was carried by the following roll call vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmen Benson, Davey, Helgesson, Mayor Aiken.
