(8) Mr. Griffin: There will not be more ranches <br />established in this area as prices of land <br />are prohibitive. The total tonnage of material moved from <br />the quarries in one day would equal the fruit moved in one <br />year. <br />(9) Councilman Rothwell: The total amount of <br />agricultural hauling within the community <br />is very small compared to the amount of commercial haul- <br />ing in regard to business of quarries. <br />(10) Mayor Treat: The problem of hauling heavy <br />equipment over roads should be taken care <br />of as a separate item. <br />(11) Councilman Fowle: Inquired about the <br />interest on the two $1000 notes of the <br />First Western Bank. City Treasurer Mrs. Lovett advised <br />that this item has been taken care of and that the Town <br />was getting a rebate. <br />jA-e*' (12) An ordinance amending a section of Ordi- <br />nance No. 17 was presented and read in <br />its entirety by City Attorney Bullis exempting trucks <br />hauling agricultural products and on motion of Councilman <br />Bledsoe, seconded by Councilman Dungan was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br />AYES: Bledsoe, Dungan, Fowle, Rothwell, Treat <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />(13) Councilman Dungan stated that the council <br />accept the recommendation of the committee <br />appointed to designate truck routes. <br />2 - $1000 <br />Notes <br />'% <br />Amendment <br />7f a section <br />of Ord. 17 <br />(14) Councilman Bledsoe: Recommendations should <br />be made that will apply with particular reference to businesses <br />in operation and provide them special routes for purposes of <br />hauling materials out of this area. <br />(15) Councilman Rothwell suggested going back <br />to the report of the committee and seek <br />comments from the floor. This committee was established <br />to investigate truck routes and met three times: <br />1st Meeting: Represented by a group of people <br />in the trucking business. <br />2nd Meeting: Group of five persons representing <br />citizens of the Town. <br />Council Minutes <br />7-9-56 <br />- 2 - <br />
